"N" Class Altitude Record

Back to Altitude Records

Who:  Richard King

What:  32,024 feet

Where:  Black Rock Desert

When:  Sept. 11, 1999

Richard's 4" minimum diameter level 3 certification flight resulted in the "N" class altitude record...quite a stylish certification attempt! Richard named this one Gambling Money ain't got no Home. The rocket is 9'-9" tall with long delta fins, and employed an Aerotech N2000W motor, having a total impulse 66% of the N class maximum.  Obviously, he got his certification and the rocket was recovered without damage with the help of a Walston transmitter. The altimeter was an Adept Alts25 60k. Liftoff weight was 44 lbs, dry weight is 16 lbs.
